Ruby Johnston Obituary

RUBY NELL JOHNSTON

Oroville resident of 35 years, Ruby Nell Johnston was born August 31, 1939 in Darnel, Arkansas and died September 23, 2007 at 68 years of age.

She is survived by her husband, Titus F. Johnson, of 51 years of marriage; her brother, Roy Hood of Weed, Calif. and sister, Mary Estes of White City, Oregon; her four children, twelve grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Ruby's life was her family, children, and grandchildren and the many animals she raised and loved. Her oldest son, Phillip L. Johnston of Chico, Calif is a Sergeant for Tehama County Sheriff Department and has a wife, Terri, with three children: Justin, Joel, and Jason. Ruby's oldest daughter, Linda, is married to Jerry Tully and has four children: Michael, Robert, Charity, and Ruby Alexis. Her youngest daughter, Brenda, is married to David Coontz and have two boys: Brent and Titus Wayne. Her youngest child, Timothy T. Johnston is a retired U.S. Army Iraqi war veteran with four children: Samantha, Theadora, Timothy Sutter and Mackinley. She was very proud of the fact she was able to see her first great-granddaughter, Satori, be born August 4, 2005. "Satori is the first of many more to come", she would say.

Ruby enjoyed supporting the community in many ways especially working as a voting booth volunteer.

Besides the love of God and family was her great love of animals and the outdoors; her last days was spent feeding two goats that she named, Buttons and Bows.

During the 1980s Ruby was the owner and operator of Johnston's Foothill Feed Store where she enjoyed serving the folks of Oroville, Forbestown, Berry Creek, Bangor, and Loma Rica area. She loved her customers and was well loved by all. Ruby was always willing to go out of her way when it came to God, family, friends, customers and animals.

Ruby spent most of her life outside doing something. She was always in some type of garden, riding horses, delivering colts or piglets, or doing yard work, or just enjoying the sun with her family. She really loved to travel and had been to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, Mexico, Canada, and all over the United States visiting friends and family and just meeting new folks. She loved talking about her travels and seeing the sites with Titus. Ruby was the strength behind her family. She put family and God above all else and pushed her family to do things that needed to be done.
