Saralee Ahlswede Obituary

Funeral services for Saralee Ellen Ahlswede, 64, of Chico will be held Saturday, November 20th at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church. She died at her home on Tuesday after a short illness with a brain tumor.

Saralee was born in San Francisco on April 13, 1940 to Warren and Helen Brusie. She moved to Chico in 1942 and attended Chico schools graduating from Chico High in 1958. She attended Chico State where she met Kent Ahlswede and they were married January 28, 1962. She was active in the community and was a member or former member of Alpha Chi, the Newcomers Club, the Rock-A-Bye Chapter of the Children's Home Society, Past President of Omega Nu, Past President of the Discovery Shop League and a member of the Josephine-Chico Chapter #104 Order of Eastern Star. She was a homemaker but enjoyed her work assisting students during registration at Butte College.

Survivors include her husband Kent of Chico; her daughter Karin and her husband Steven Doe of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sons, Craig of Santa Rosa and Kevin and his wife Alicia of Chico; two grandchildren Karlee and Kyle Ahlswede of Chico; and her brother Warren Brusie and his wife Anne of Chico.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brusie Funeral Home. Interment will be in Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Contributions in her memory may be made to a favorite charity in care of the Funeral Home.
