James "Toad" Bowdle

FRANKFORT: James "Toad" Bowdle, 70, of Frankfort, died unexpectedly at his home.

He was born on March 2, 1943 in Ross County, the son of the late Homer and Maryann Willis Bowdle.

He is survived by his children, Jodi (Steve) Allen of Chillicothe, Jeff (Julie Ann Knisley) Bowdle, Jay (Aimee) Bowdle all of Frankfort; grandchildren, Kevin and Amanda Allen of Covington KY, Patrick Allen of Denver CO, Stephanie Allen of Lexington KY, Jason Dement and Amber Reynolds of Chillicothe, Justin and Katie Dement of Chillicothe, Brittney Bowdle of Frankfort, Gerri Bowdle of Frankfort, Krista Efaw of South Bloomingville, Brandon Hughes and Heather Sanford of Chillicothe, Allee Tyo of Columbus, Jacob Bowdle of Lima, Jerrod Bowdle of Frankfort, Lexee Long of Frankfort; great grandchildren, Hayden and Hudson Dement of Chillicothe, Addison Hughes of Chillicothe, Garrett Allen of Covington KY; sisters, JoAnn Hawkins of Chillicothe, Jane Music of Cincinnati; and sister-in-law, Thelma "Sis" Bowdle of Chillicothe. He will be missed and remembered by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Homer "Shorty" Bowdle Jr..

Toad was a 1960 graduate of Clarksburg High School. He retired from Chilpaco Paper Corp. in 2002 after more than 40 years of service. Toad was a Staff Sgt in the US Army Reserves, and a member and Past Commander of the Joseph Ellsworth White Post 483 Frankfort American Legion. He was a member of the Frankfort Masonic Lodge 309 Free & Accepted Masons, the South Central Ohio Antique Tractor Pullers and the Scioto Valley Antique Power Association. Toad was a past Chef De Garr for the 40/8. He was an avid Adena Warriors sports fan, but enjoyed watching all Ross County schools compete.

Friends and family are asked to gather for a graveside service at 11a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort where Masonic services will be conducted by the Frankfort Masonic Lodge. Military honors will be accorded by the Frankfort American Legion Post 483. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8p.m. in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort.

Jim did so much to comfort and visit my husband, Ronnie during his fight with lung cancer.Larry Chester and Jim would come over every Wednesday to see him. They always cheered him up, and made him feel good.
