Richard Basye Obituary
Olanta, South Carolina - Richard W. Basye Sr. of Olanta, South Carolina passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 in Florence, South Carolina, unexpectly. Richard was born on August 20, 1944 in Ross County to Samuel W. Basye and Carlia (Tackett) Basye. He married Connie Cozad on March 26, 1965 and together they shared 56 years of marriage.
Richard is survived by his wife; his children, Richard "Rik" (Jodie) Basye, Jr. of Olanta, South Carolina and Lynn el (Scott) Day of Richmond, Ohio. Grandchildren, Keeley Day of Richmond Ohio, Savanna, and Marcus Basye of Olanta, South Carolina, and John Kasey Piland of North Carolina. Three sisters, Eleanor (Robert) Bell of Campobello, South Carolina, Virginia Carr and Barbara (Eldon) Smith of Chillicothe, Ohio; his brothers, Rodger (Carol) Basye of Frankfort, Ohio and Michael (Joanne) Basye of Chillicothe, sister-in-law, Linda Basye of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina and Bonnie (Don) Collins of Chillicothe, a special nephew, Paul Jr (Debbie) Basye of Bainbridge, Ohio.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved, first born son, Mark Basye, brothers, Paul, Samuel, and Carl Basye, and a sister Ruth Basye.
Dick was a United States Army veteran, and proudly served in Germany.
He retired from Madison Correctional Institution and had previously worked at Chilpaco (Mead) Chillicothe, Ohio and Log Cabin Donuts in Tennessee.
According to his wishes there will be no calling hours.
