Agnes Stipetich Obituary

Agnes Catherine Stipetich

Agnes Catherine Stipetich, 73, of Menomonie, WI passed away peacefully from Parkinson's disease on December 9, 2023 at Northern Lights Services in Washburn, WI. She was born June 17, 1950 in Ashland, the daughter of John P. and Annie M. (Cvenk) Stipetich. Agnes attended Ondossagon High School graduating in 1968. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree (1972) and Master of Science in Teaching Degree (1977) from the University of Wisconsin - Superior. Agnes worked in education for 34 years. She began her teaching career in middle school education in Lena, WI. After 4 years, she transferred to Menomonie School District where she taught in elementary schools until her retirement in 2005. Agnes also participated in a teacher exchange program and taught one year in Capitan, New Mexico.

After retirement from education Agnes became a very active volunteer in the Menomonie Community. She was an advocate for those in need. She volunteered at her local parish, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and at two other local churches serving meals. She also volunteered at Stepping Stones of Dunn County - a non-profit organization that provides food, shelter and support to neighbors in the community. She especially enjoyed sharing her Catholic faith by helping with the weekly Mass at a campus of nursing homes in Menomonie and leading adult bible study. Agnes was a member of JONAH (Join Our Neighbors Advancing Hope) a group in the Chippewa Valley whose work is to address root causes of poverty and injustice and particularly enjoyed work on the Immigration Task Force. In her spare time, Agnes enjoyed playing golf and biking in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with friends and traveling worldwide.

Agnes is survived by brothers Tony (Kathy), Tom (Jan), Steve (Julie) all of rural Ashland, Peter (Mary) of Superior, and one sister Barbara Stipetich of Ashland. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Brett (Liz) Stipetich, Todd Stipetich, Heather (Coleman) Breunig, Scott (Alex) Stipetich, Katie (Mike) Driggs, Kelly (Aaron) Brock, Rachel Stipetich and Violet (Hahns) Zeis as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents John (1996) and Annie (2017) Stipetich.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 16, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dauby, WI with Father Jerome D'Souza officiating and Deacon John Grek assisting. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 am until the hour of service. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
