Barbara Jean Orheim, 63, of Sheldon died on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. She was in ill health for about five weeks.
She was born in Longview, Washington on Oct. 3, 1951, the daughter of Eben and Dixie Edmonds Orheim. When she was young, she moved with her family to the Sheldon area, where she lived her entire life.
Barb always found something good in everyone she met while working as a cook and bartender at area restaurants. She enjoyed playing cribbage and Yahtzee with friends as she sat at her table watching the hummingbirds feed. When she wasn't working, she was a great babysitter for family and friends.
Barbara is survived by: a son, Gregory Scott Orheim of Sheldon. A daughter, Renie Rae Orheim died in infancy.
Barbara is also survived by: one brother and four sisters, Mike and Cindy Orheim of Sheldon, Lena and Von Baughman of Sheldon, Midge Kallstrom of Altoona, Pat and Scott Christman of Eau Claire and Sandy and Jeff Howe of Sheldon; along with nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Orheim.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. at The Sheldon Church of Christ, with Jeremy Allard officiating. Burial will be in The Woodlawn Cemetery in Sheldon at a later date.
The Orheim family will receive friends at the Nash - Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., and also at the church on Wednesday from noon until service time.
