Rev. Carlton R. Zehrt, age 91, of Menomonie, died Monday, June 4, 2007, at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie.
Carlton Raymond Zehrt was born April 17, 1916, in Franksville to Frank and Mary (Eggert) Zehrt. He married Lela Larrabee on July 13, 1957, in California.
Carlton was a minister in the Church of the Nazarene in Kansas, Nebraska and Wisconsin for 50 years. He retired on Oct. 1, 2006, after pastoring for 24 years at the Forest Center Church of the Nazarene.
He loved preaching, supporting the mission work of the church, spending time with his family, and visiting friends. He also enjoyed fishing and had an extensive model train collection. Carlton loved life and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Carlton is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Lela; a son, Bryan (Pamela) Zehrt of Solon, Iowa; two grandchildren, Ben and Leah Zehrt; a sister, Marvel Smith of Racine; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary and Frank Zehrt; a sister, Laverne Pistulka; two brothers, Richard and Frank "Duke" Zehrt; and another sister at a young age.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Menomonie with the Revs. Wes Harper and Elmer Pannier officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Center Cemetery in the town of Spring Brook, Dunn County.
Family and friends are welcome from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
