Charles Ira Carrell, 84, went to be with the Lord with family at his side on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 after a lengthy illness.
Charles was born on Monday, Sept. 9, 1929 in Cornell, the son of Charles Henry and Ada (Young) Carrell, both of Cornell. His mother gave him the nickname of Bud (Buddy).
He was married on Sept. 9, 1949, to Grace Ura Dell Beighley, Grace preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1989. He married Dora (Shackleton) Black on Nov. 13, 1993.
Charles was a lifetime resident on Cornell. He worked at the Cornell Paper Mill for many years. He was a dairy farmer in the Town of Cleveland for many years. He served on the Cleveland Town Board for 26 years, from 1985 to 2011. He also served as President of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau. Charles was a long time member of the Keystone Community Church, currently the Keystone New Life Alliance Church.
He loved fishing with Evert Larson and was devoted to his Church and community and he loved the Lord.
Charles "Bud" was a loving father, husband, grandfather and enjoyed spending quality time with family.
Charles is survived by: five children, William (Ellen) Carrell, Linda (Robert) Igarta, John (Kitty Parks) Carrell, Sue (Bill) White, Pamela (Russell) Martin, all residents of Cornell; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Also survived by: his wife, Dora and 11 children, Sally (Dale) Cummings of Holcombe, Bob (Shelly) Black of Chetek, Becerly Wilde of Bruce, Larry (Lisa) Black of Indiana, Linda (Lonnie) Shilt of Chetek, Ronald (Karen) Black of Chippewa Falls, Donna (Mark) Drivdahl of Indiana, Sandy (Tim) Thackeray of Texas, Bill (Tammy) Black of Holcombe, Sarah (Dan) Moen of Holcombe, Kathy (Rob) Mobry of Holcombe; 27 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; 21 step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Grace; sister, Velda Alexander; grandson, Jeffrey Mark Igarta; four half brothers, one half sister, and 3 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday Aug. 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Keystone New Life Alliance Church, 24288 County Highway Z Cornell, with Rev. Jim Brandli, Rev. Robert Igarta and Rev. Stan Shackleton officiating. Interment will be in the Cornell Cemetery Cornell.
Visitation will be at the Keystone New Life Alliance Church Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. and one hour before services Saturday at the Church.
