Charles C. "Charlie" Sebert, 84, of Chippewa Falls, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Chippewa Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.
He was born Nov. 14, 1924, in Lookout, http://W.Va">W.Va. to Nita (Tincher) and Estel Sebert. He was raised in Lookout, where he attended school.
Charles served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1943 - 1946.
He married Elizabeth Ann Holliday on Aug. 18, 1946, in Lookout, W.Va. She preceded him in death in 1998.
While living in West Virginia, Charles worked as a coal miner from 1946-1959, and then as a production worker at Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, W.Va., retiring in 1989. In September 2002 he moved to Chippewa Falls to be near his daughter and her family.
He was an active member of Crossroads Church in Chippewa Falls.
Survivors include: a daughter, Sandy (Dwight) Pearson of Chippewa Falls; a son, Gary Sebert of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three sisters, Kathleen Hypes of Lookout, http://W.Va">W.Va., Sybel Kidder of Tipp City, Ohio, Carol Thompson of Lookout, W.Va.; two brothers, Douglas (Marguerite) Sebert of Lookout, http://W.Va">W.Va., Elza (Faye) Sebert of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jason (Nikki) LonCavish of Chippewa Falls, Heather (Ryan) Schmidt of Oshkosh, Joshua Sebert of Dayton, Ohio, Nathan (Shelley) Pearson of Stillwater, Minn.; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Including his wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers-in-law, Charles Hypes, Harlan Kidder and Woodrow Thompson; and a grandson, Brent Charles Sebert.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12 at Crossroads Church in Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Wade Duroe officiating. Interment will be in Jackson County Memorial Gardens in Cottageville, W.Va. on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Visitation hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11 at Crossroads Church, 209 W. South Ave., Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Monday, also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charles' honor may be designated to Crossroads Church.
