Elizabeth Spaeth Obituary

Elizabeth A. Spaeth

CHIPPEWA FALLS - Elizabeth A. Spaeth, 89, of Chippewa Falls, passed away at Aggie's Country Living, on December 9, 2023 under the care of Saint Croix Hospice with her family by her side.

Betty was born November 8, 1934, the youngest of eleven children to Albert and Elizabeth (Keller) Wink, Sr. She grew up on a farm south of Thorp and graduated from Thorp High School in 1952.

Betty was united in marriage to Charles Donald Spaeth on August 23, 1955 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Thorp WI. They had a wonderful, loving 37 years together. They raised two children, Arlene and Allen.

Betty worked at Chip-tronic for five years, then at CT Film as an Account Clerk for 22 years until retirement in June 1995.

After retirement she researched the Wink/Spaeth Family Tree and had books printed with the results of her research. She also volunteered at Parkview School in her grandchildren's classrooms. She was a Girl Scout Assistant leader for nine years for her granddaughter's troop.

Her greatest love was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Betty had many talents. She made and decorated wedding and anniversary cakes. Family raved about her sweet rolls. She crocheted doilies and sewed many beautiful quilts.

Betty enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Minong with her family and friends. She loved being with people and was always ready to play cards, mostly 500 but she could play anything.

She stayed active by traveling both overseas and in the U.S. She was also a member of the Chippewa Falls YMCA where she was active in the water exercise program and walked the track until she hit the 500-mile mark.

Betty was a long-time member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, was a member of the Church's P.C.C.W. where she helped at funerals, dinners and volunteered in the office.

She is survived by her daughter, Arlene (Frederick) Reiter; and son, Allen (Becky) Spaeth; four grandchildren: Scott (Allie) Reiter, Todd Reiter (Jenny Gust), Erik Spaeth and Katee (Dahlton) Bowe; five great-grandchildren: Sage Reiter, Lainey Reiter, Lawson Reiter, Paisley Bowe, and soon to be Baby Bowe; sister, Amelia Hodorowski; and sisters-in-law: Arlene Wink and Delores Wink.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on June 11, 1993, her parents, Albert and Elizabeth, sisters: Mary Welciek, Bertha Pawlak, Cecilia Orzechowski, Edith Chmelik, Margaret Chemerys, Josephine Hodorowski, brothers: Anthony Wink, Albert Wink, and Lawrence Wink.

A special heartfelt thank you to Sheena and everyone at Aggie's Country Living for opening your hearts and making Betty truly feel like she was at home and to the people at St. Croix Hospice who provided that extra care and support.

The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the church.
