Herbert Link Obituary

Herbert H. Link, age 73, of Menomonie, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at Myrtle Werth Hospital-Mayo Health System in Menomonie.

He was born Oct. 25, 1930, in the town of Spring Brook, Dunn County, to Samuel and Martha (Breitzman) Link.

Herbert served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953 and was stationed in Korea for one year. On Oct. 20, 1956, he married Marlys Henderson at St. Katherine's Lutheran Church at Beyer Settlement. They resided in Menomonie and Herb hauled livestock for 30 years.

Herb enjoyed his grandchildren and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Herb's final act was the gift of life through tissue and bone donation.

Herb is survived by his wife, Marlys; three daughters, Roxanne Gibis of Elk Mound, Penny (Paul) O'Connell of Clear Lake, and Kathy (Larry) Link-Grieb of Boyceville; one son, Terry (Donald) Link of Colfax; nine grandchildren, Jesse and Christie Gibis, Joy, Jon and Joe Link, Matthew and Eric O'Connell, and Dustin and Cody Link; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Gibis and Devyn Lee; two brothers, Elmer (Marchia) Link and Francis (Ann) Link, both of Billings, Mont.; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Samuel, Sherman, Richard and Melvin, and four sisters, Rachel, Hazel, Esther and Linda.

A memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie. Burial will be at 3 p.m. on Monday at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner with military honors.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Sunday) at the Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

The family suggests memorials to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
