James Sedlacek Obituary

James P. Sedlacek, 81, of Chippewa Falls, town of Tilden, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at home surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 18, 1933, on the family farm in Cadott, the son of Lucille (Cornellier) and John Sedlacek. He graduated from Cadott High School in 1951.

James served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954 during the Korean Conflict.

In 1957, he married Carol Dresel and together they had three children. The couple later divorced.

James worked various jobs, including Peter's Meats, Jim Falls Dairy, truck driving, and moving homes for Mitchell Movers and for Town & Country Housing.

He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed small game hunting, archery and gun; fishing, mowing lawn and snow blowing. He often took care of his grandchildren, taking them to school and other events. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include a son, Tim (Geri) Sedlacek; two daughters, Teri (Darrell) Schneider, all of Chippewa Falls, Tammy Blank of Indiana; sisters, Lois Kvapil (Albert) of Jim Falls, Mary (Ken) Abraham of MN; a brother, Lenny (Kay) Sedlacek of Cadott; grandchildren, Sarah (Bud) Boiteau, Brian (Kati) Sedlacek, Tyler (Kateri) Sedlacek, Amanda (Phil) Ashley, Andrea Blank, Anita Blank, Cory (Emma) Schneider, Chad (Denae) Schneider; great-grandchildren, Brenna, Kylee, Austin, Tyler, Caylie, Payton, Mason, Jesslyn, Riley and a great-grandson, Blake, expected to be born on August 30; one great-great-granddaughter, Emiliana; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Charlene Flint; and a brother-in-law, Jim Flint.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. William Plautz officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and may go to the Northern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, N4063 Veterans Way, Spooner, WI 54801.

The family would like to thank friends and family for their prayers and kindness during this time. Also a special thank you to Nancy Mancl, St. Croix Hospice, Pastor Plautz and Faith Lutheran Church, Geri for the exceptional meals, and Sarah for your compassion and respite care. Your time, generosity and thoughtfulness are greatly appreciated.
