Jeanette Westaby, 85, of Boyd, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Our House-Chippewa Falls. Jeanette Westaby, a loving wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a spirited and strong woman whose kindness and warm heart touched everyone she met.
Born on January 12, 1940, in Pleasant Valley, Jeanette Barbara Ritter was the daughter of the late Maxwell and Cora (Syverson) Ritter. She grew up on the family farm and attended local schools. On January 3, 1956, she married Marlin Westaby. The couple lived in Chicago for 11 years before moving back to Wisconsin to raise their family.
Jeanette's life was full of love and laughter. She cherished family gatherings, her church community, and her special bond with her kitty "KK". She loved going on adventures with her children and was still making plans for future trips. She always had a fond story to tell about her motorcycle rides with her husband Marlin. Nothing brought her more happiness than hearing the laughter of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and learning about their lives.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Deanna (Barry) Sosalla of Eau Claire, Keith Westaby of Owen, Dennis (Kathy) Westaby of Menomonie, Dan (Martha) Westaby of Boyd, and Craig (Shelley) Westaby of Winter. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and her sisters Murial Eslinger of Boyd, Elaine Burgess of Chippewa Falls, and Doreen Ritter of Janesville.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marlin (2014); her brothers Duane and Raymond Ritter; her sister Ruth Phillippi; and her daughter-in-law Vickie Westaby.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Maple Grove Church, with a visitation from 10:30 a.m. to the time of the service. A private inurnment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Stanley, Wisconsin.
