John "Jack" Harold Cook, Jr., age 90, of Menomonie, passed away, Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie.
Jack was born Aug. 14, 1923, in the Township Of Red Cedar, Dunn County, to John Sr. and Kathryn (Gasteyer) Cook, the youngest of five children. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Spring Brook Township. Jack attended Lyndale School, St. Paul's Lutheran School and Dunn County School Of Agriculture, all of Menomonie.
On May 26, 1954, Jack married Alice Anderson at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Menomonie. Jack and Alice remained on the Cook family farm where they raised their children and were dairy farmers until their retirement.
Jack enjoyed playing cards, deer hunting, fishing, gardening and watching his beloved Packers, but the most important part of his life was his family. He was proud of each and every child, grandchild and great grandchild and interested in their lives as well.
Jack is survived by three children; two sons, Robert (Susan) Cook and John (Nancy) Cook, all of Menomonie; one daughter, KayReene (Dan) Leis of Chippewa Falls; 10 grandchildren, Tony (Shannon) Cook, Jody Cook, Katie (Chad Hoyt) Cook, LeAnne (Chris) Moehle, Lindsay (Lee) Woodward, Cory (Lacy) Cook, Brandon Klemish, Ashley (Jake) Lynch, Whitney (Matt) Surdick and Garrett Klemish; 10 great grandchildren, Lauren, Kaiah, Brianna, Ramsey, Jaycee, Madden, Kendall, Tatum, Ari and Navy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr. and Kathryn (Gasteyer) Cook; his wife, Alice; one brother, Edmund (Norma) Cook; three sisters, Dorothy (Paul) Trinko, Gertrude (Lester) Puhl and Evelyn (Howard) Killian.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie with Pastor Brett Voigt officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
