EAU CLAIRE - Lucille Emerson, 96, formerly of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation in Eau Claire.
She was born Agnes Lucille McRae on Jan. 14, 1911, in Chippewa Falls to Agnes M. (Lovell) and John B. McRae.
She grew up in Chippewa Falls, where she attended First Ward School and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1928. She graduated from Eau Claire Normal and then was an elementary school teacher at Auburn Center in the town of Auburn.
Lucille married Wilfred E. Emerson on March 30, 1934, in Chippewa Falls. After their marriage, she taught at Gower School in Hallie for five years. She then taught at Jim Falls Elementary for 10 years. She moved to Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she resided until moving to The Clairemont in October 2005.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include: six nephews, Paul (Julie) Cyr of Eau Claire, Robert (Annette ) Cyr of Indianapolis, Ind., Tom (Joanne) Emerson of Mahomet, Ill., Richard (Chris) McRae of Rapid City, S.D., Robert McRae of Anaheim, Calif., Kenneth McRae of Orange, Calif.; one niece, Carol (Joseph) Minter of Dogue, Va.; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, on Dec. 30, 2001; her parents; a sister, Mary Swisher; and three brothers, Duncan, Marvin, and Kenneth McRae.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Fr. Robert Hoekstra, Chaplain of the Chippewa Manor Retirement Community, officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials in Lucille's memory may be directed to the Chippewa County Humane Association and Irvine Park.
