BAGLEY, Minn. - Margaret Liljedahl, 92, of Bagley died Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the Cornerstone Assisted Senior Living Center in Bagley.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at the Rice Free Lutheran Church at Zerkel, Minn., with Pastor Dale Adams officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Big Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery in Elk Mound, Wis. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Margaret was born Aug. 31, 1925, in Eau Claire, the daughter of Ole and Marie (Clements) Reitan. She grew up in Albertville, Wis. and attended the Howard School. Margaret spoke fluent Norwegian and was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. She graduated from the Chippewa Falls High School in 1945. She attended the Minneapolis Business College for one year. She was employed by Massey-Harris, Great Northern Railroad, and BSU. She married Roy Liljedahl Oct. 25, 1963, in Minneapolis, Minn. They moved to Tenstrike, Minn. in 1970 where they farmed and owned a resort on Gull Lake. They moved to Zerkel in 1973. After Roy's death in 1984 she lived in various communities moving into Bagley in 1992. Margaret worked as a secretary at the Clearwater Co. Human Services. In 2008 she lived with her son, Lester, south of Bagley. In 2012 she moved to the Garden Place.
She was a member of Rice Free Lutheran Church and the W.M.F.L. She served as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Foster Grandparent Program in the Bagley school. She also helped at the Bagley Day Activity Center. She enjoyed reading, laughing, and smiling. She enjoyed kittens and chickens.
Survivors include her son, Lester Liljedahl of Bagley; one stepdaughter, Deb (Wayne) Wright of Kelso, Wash.; a special friend, Grace Nelson of Bagley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and stepson, Gregg Liljedahl.
