ALTOONA - Mary D. Pahl, 84, former resident of Cornell, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 at Oak wood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona under assisted care of Northwest Wisconsin Homecare. She was born the daughter of Henry and Beaulah (Downer) Helland July 21, 1924, in Cornell. She married Alvin Pahl March 1, 1941, in Chippewa Falls. They resided in the town of Estella where they farmed. Mary also worked for the Jim Falls Packaging Plant, the Chippewa Co. Hospital as a CNA and was foster parent for many children over many years.
Survivors include: six daughters, Amelia (Raymond) Shackleton of New Auburn, Pauline (Gene) Kadlec of Holcombe, Elaine (Kenny) Hakes of Longview, Texas, Ellen (Bill) Carrell of Cornell and Kathy McGinnis of Cornell; one son Fred (Pat) Pahl of Cornell; one daughter-in-law Diane Pahl of Cornell; 49 grandchildren; 89 great- grandchildren; and 13 greatgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; one son Henry; and one grandchild Tina.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Cornell with Rev. John Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in the Cornell Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Borton Funeral Home in Cornell and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
