Richard "Dick" Moe, 84, Chippewa Falls, spent his last evening at home with his family before passing away from complications due to Alzheimer's disease, under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014.
Dick was born May 31, 1930, in Eau Claire, the son of Ralph and Bernice (O'Connell) Moe. He graduated from McDonell High School in 1948. Dick served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. Dick was a policeman for the Chippewa Falls Police Department for 30 years until his retirement in 1985. He often commented that "There's more to police work than just arresting people". He was often referred to as one of the nice ones (cops).
After retirement Dick worked for Christensen Florist for several years, a job he truly enjoyed: bringing flowers and joy to others.
On Oct. 8, 1955, he married Joyce Beaudoin at Holy Ghost Church in Chippewa Falls. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974 and Notre Dame Church and former member of Moose Lodge #246.
Dick is survived by: his children, Cindy (Jerome) Ducommun, Lynn Peloquin, Steve (Diane) Moe all of Chippewa Falls, Jim (Lisa) Moe of Menomonie, Ann (Bill) Salter of Ramsey, Minnesota, Connie Moe, Nancy (Leonard) Mondeau and Paul (Shawn) Moe all of Chippewa Falls; one brother, William "Bill" (Karen) Moe of Chippewa Falls; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by: his wife, Joyce; his parents; and one brother, Robert "Bob" (Bev) Moe.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls. Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Inurnment will be in Hope Mausoleum in Chippewa Falls and military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council both at a later date.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls and one hour before the time of services on Saturday at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls. The Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974 will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. and there will be a Christian vigil service at 7:30 p.m. both on Friday at the funeral home.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your Uncle Bob and Bev were good friends and used to party with my parents. I remember them well, and your dad was also one of their friends. This didn't work in my favor on several occasions. I could never get away with anything - my parents knew before I got to the back door! On the other hand, I think he did my brother and me a big favor once. I'll tell you if I ever see you.
I'm sure there will be many stories to tell at your celebration of his life. He was a good man, good policeman, and good friend to many. And of course, a great father.
I picture him joining the ever growing party. He got a big welcome, I'm sure!
Enjoy the memories. It's all we ever have left
