EAU CLAIRE - Sandra A. "Sandy" Wernlund, 61, of The Clairemont Nursing Home, Eau Claire, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at The Clairemont.
She was born Oct. 2, 1949 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Marion (Radke) and William Erickson. She was raised in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School.
Sandy married John Wernlund in 1967 in Chippewa Falls. They were later divorced.
She was employed for Eau Claire County Department of Social Services. She became disabled in 1984 and became a resident of the Golden Age Home in Chippewa Falls until moving to the Clairemont in December 2005.
Survivors include: one son, David (Chrystal) Wernlund of Adams, Ore.; two brothers, Gerald (Melody) Erickson of Sparta and William (Elaine) Erickson of Racine; one granddaughter, JoHanna Wernlund; three aunts, Doris Jacobson of Eau Claire, Carol Erickson of Eleva, Betty Erickson of Chippewa Falls; also survived by two nephews; one niece and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jack Erickson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 30 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, with Pastor Dan Whitehead of the Rock Falls Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral chapel.
Sandy's family would like to thank her aunt, Doris Jacobson, for her care and dedication to Sandy during her stay at The Clairemont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sandy's memory would be appreciated.
