COOKS VALLEY - Sylvan F. Rothbauer, 87, of Cooks Valley, Wis., passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at Lake Hallie Memory Care while under the care of Heartland Hospice.
He was born February 27, 1937, in the Town of Howard, the son of William and Louise (Mickesh) Rothbauer Sr. Sylvan married Leona Seichter on October 17, 1959, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Boyd. They resided for a short time in Kenosha, Wis., and later purchased the family farm in Tilden.
Sylvan worked at Leinenkugel's Brewery in Chippewa Falls and also as a dairy farmer. He later purchased the farm in Tilden. He was a very hardworking farmer and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. Sylvan and Leona enjoyed many trips to Canada and a once in a lifetime trip overseas to Europe. They also looked forward to the annual trip to Las Vegas.
He is survived by his daughter, Roseanne (Jim) Schneider of Tilden; sons, Robert (Jan) Rothbauer, of Tilden, and Roger (Renee) Rothbauer, of Cooks Valley; six grandchildren, Stacy, Danielle, Brandon, Katie, Mindy, and Sarah; nine great-grandchildren, Carter, Greyson, Oliver, Gabe, Mitchell, Brady, Jack, Brekyn, and Olivia. Also by a sister, Sylvia Blodgett of Chippewa Falls; and brother, William Rothbauer Jr., of Chippewa Falls; and by many other beloved relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Leona; great-grandson, Logan; sisters, Rita Goulet, and Dorothy Goettl; brothers, Marvin and Leon Rothbauer; also two siblings at infancy, Dolores and Dennis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 6, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cooks Valley with Father Victor Feltes celebrating the mass. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held that morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer.
