Thomas "Tom" J. Sommerfeld, Jr., 46, of the town of Eagle Point, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, surrounded by family and friends following a courageous battle with cancer.
Tom was born on Feb. 27, 1969, the son of Thomas J. Sommerfeld, Sr. and Bonnie (Boiteau) Emerson.
He grew up in the Cadott area and attended and graduated from Cadott High School in 1988. He attended the Chippewa Valley Technical College. Tom then pursued a career in the plumbing trade, eventually starting his own business - Tom Sommerfeld Plumbing.
Thomas married the love of his life, Tami Rogge, on Sept. 30, 2006.
Tom enjoyed spending time at the cabin, fishing, boating, especially spending time with family and friends and loved vacationing with his wife Tami. Tom had a passion for old cars. He surprised his wife and mother by restoring collector Ford Mustangs on their birthdays.
Tom is survived by: his beloved wife, Tami Sommerfeld; cherished children, Kodi Schutz, Kelsey (Adam Ferris) Sommerfeld and Stephanie Rogge; his pride and joy -grandchildren, Bailey, Adalynne and Kaydence; father, Tom (Lucy) Sommerfeld, Sr. and mother. Bonnie (Pete) Emerson; brother, Rick (Patti) Sommerfeld; grandparents. Dolly Boiteau, Rose Mary Sommerfeld and Mary Lou Rogge; step-brothers, Jason (Sue) Emerson and Joe Emerson; step-sisters, Carrie Aubart and Cris (Nick) Arntz; father- and mother-in-law, Ron and Ruth Rogge; sister- and brother-in-laws, Dawn (Carl) Beck and Tara Henneman; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his grandfathers, Howard Boiteau, Ken Sommerfeld and Jerome Rogge; and aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life/Memorial Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 with a 7:30 p.m. Spiritual Reading at the Fill Inn Station in Chippewa Falls.
