Vera C. Weaver, 62, of Chippewa Falls died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at home while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
She was born Oct. 28, 1949 in Jump River to Ellen (Olson) and Edward James. She grew up on her family's farm and graduated from Gilman High School in 1967.
Following high school, she continued her education at the Medical Institute of Minnesota. After finishing her internship at the Sparta Hospital, she moved to Chippewa Falls to take a position as a medical laboratory technician at St. Joseph's Hospital, where she worked for 40 years, retiring on Oct. 30, 2009.
Vera married James Weaver on June 8, 1978 in Chippewa Falls, where they have resided since that time.
From early on as a child, Vera was an avid horse lover. In her later years she began gardening. Her vegetable and flower gardens were something to be admired.
Vera loved nature and nurtured all God's creatures that came under her care, even mending a robin with a broken wing back to health.
Fishing is also something she enjoyed. Even if the fish weren't biting, she enjoyed listening to the loons and watching the eagles.
Traveling and family time at the cabin also brought great joy to her life. That included every summer taking the family on a special trip, mainly to the Big Horn Mountains at her children's request.
Her granddaughters were the light of her life. She enjoyed her extra special alone time with them, especially taking them to the "zoo park" and showing them the joys of nature.
Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered most for her thoughtful, loving, compassionate and selfless nature.
Survivors include: her husband James of Chippewa Falls; a daughter, Mary (Justin) Aylward of Esko, Minn.; two sons, James (Stacy) Weaver of Medford and Daniel Weaver of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, Skylar and Sydney Aylward, and Olivia Weaver; and her canine companion Jake.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; and a brother, Dick L. James.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 31 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra, chaplain for St. Joseph's Hospice, officiating.
