William Scobie Obituary

William "Bill" Mason Scobie, 76, of Chippewa Falls, died Friday, July 29, 2016, surrounded by his family, in their arms at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

Bill was born Nov. 9, 1939, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Robert Pratt and Rosemary (Mason) Scobie.

Bill enjoyed a 43 year career at Mason Companies, Inc., and truly loved working in the family business, and serving in many positions during his career, including president, CEO and chairman of the board of directors. Anyone who met him understood immediately his devotion to the business and the people of Mason Companies. Bill served as a board member and trustee of many organizations, including the American Apparel and Footwear Association, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Foundation, Oak Tree Council at UWEC, UWEC Alumni Association, REACH, R.W. Scobie Inc., Triniteam, Chippewa Youth Hockey Association, St. Charles School Board, B.A. Mason Trust, and numerous other civic and philanthropic organizations. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and National Guard.

In addition to his devotion to the community, Bill above all, loved his family. A family that grew when he married Nancy Clark Sept. 21, 1963, at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls. He excelled and was a role model as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather and friend.

Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Timothy (Rachel) Scobie of St. Paul, and Patrick (Priscilla) Scobie of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Peter (Randi) Scobie of Eau Claire, and Michael (Cheri) Scobie of Finksburg, Md.; two sisters, Susan Mazzarella of Houston, Texas, and Margaret Scobie of Lovettsville, Va.; and eight grandchildren, Alexis, Lauren, Ian, Collin, Cameron, Dylan, Sydney and Emma; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary Scobie in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls. The Rev. William P. Felix, the Rev. Bob Cook and the Rev. John Schutz will con-celebrate at the Funeral Mass. Inurnment will be in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls, at a later date.

Nancy, Tim, and Pat,
So sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, father and friend, Bill. I had the upmost respect and admiration for "Uncle" Bill, even though he was technically more of a double 2nd cousin by marriage. He always treated me as though I was his nephew, taking an uncommon interest in what I was doing in life, school, and with my career. I loved his wit and gentle nature and will always remember the great stories he told. I wish I could hear some more soon but that will have to wait until we are all reunited in heaven someday. I hope the awesome memories you have will help soften the loss. Wish I could have been there for the funeral. Love, Andy and family

Dear Nancy, Just heard about Bill and feel so sad for you and the family. We will always have very fond memories of him, his smile, his easy going personality in the good old days when we all transitioned into adulthood. So happy we knew each of you as you just began your long partnership and journey together. Much love always from both of us.
