Carl D. Ruddell

Carl D. Ruddell, 89, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2025 at his residence. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with Rev. Dan Huck officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home. Masonic Rites will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A native of Nortonville, KY he was born April 21, 1936 the son of the late Emmett Lamar Ruddell and Murphy Young Ruddell. He was a graduate of the Bowling Green College of Commerce, which is now part of Western Kentucky University. He retired from the State of Kentucky after 34 years of service as an Unemployment Insurance Auditor. Carl was a United States Air Force veteran. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Hopkinsville Masonic Lodge #37. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his half-brother: Odie Whitfield; his sisters: Nevline Higgason, Beatrice Newbold, and Core Gamblin; and his brothers: Jeff Lamar Ruddell and William Amos Ruddell. Survivors include his wife: Sue Ruddell; his daughters: Ann Ruddell (Gary) Phillips of Milford, OH and Lea Ruddell (Travis) Martin of Hopkinsville, KY; and his grandchildren: Jessica Marie Phillips, Christopher Michael Phillips, Ryan Thomas Martin, and Tyler Andrew Martin. Memorial contributions are suggested to First United Methodist Church.
