KENNETH "TINY" AUSTERMAN Kenneth "Tiny" Austerman of Penn Yan, N.Y., passed away peacefully in Bradenton, Fla., on the evening of November 12, 2023, at the age of 80. Ken is predeceased by his mother, Mary Clifford Austerman, his father, Kenneth F. Austerman, and his brother, Clifton Austerman. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hilda I. Austerman, of Bradenton. They were married on in Penn Yan on July 7, 1973. Ken is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kay Austerman of Palmyra, N.Y., his son Kurt Austerman (Rebecca) of Bradenton, his granddaughter Angie Austerman of Buffalo, N.Y., and grandson Kenny Martinez of Palmyra, and nephews Peter Austerman (Mary) of Sodus, N.Y. and David Austerman of Prattsburgh, N.Y. Ken was born in Penn Yan, on January 13 in 1943. He attended Penn Yan Academy and then attended the local police academy. He worked for the Penn Yan Police Department from 1966 to 1988, when he retired with the rank of sergeant. After his retirement, Ken enjoyed making the donuts at a couple local donut shops and then working security at Finger Lakes Racetrack and Eastview Mall. Ken and Hilda eventually moved from his hometown to the Sunshine State to be near his son Kurt in 2009. He often spoke fondly of his time growing up in Penn Yan, days visiting Watkins Glen racetrack, his bowling league rivalries, the pride he had for his service as a police officer, and the friends and characters he missed from Yates County. The funeral service for Kenneth Austerman was held at Robert Toale & Sons Manasota Memorial Park on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 11 a.m. (1221 53rd Ave E, Bradenton, FL 34203).
