Harry Douthett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (43rd St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Mar. 11, 2026.
Harry Lee Douthett, known affectionately to all as Harry, was a beacon of love and strength in the lives of those he touched. Born on the 11th of November, 1939, in Butler, Pennsylvania, Harry's journey through life was one marked by devotion, service, and family. His peaceful passing on the 5th of March, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida, has left a legacy of cherished memories and enduring love.

Harry's early life in Pennsylvania set the stage for a lifetime of dedication and hard work. After honorably serving his country in the Navy, he met his first love, Joanne, and together they embarked on a new chapter. Their move to Sarasota in 1964, and subsequently to Manatee County in 1974, marked the beginning of a life filled with community, family, and service. Harry's career as a lineman with GTE was characterized by the same commitment and reliability he showed in every aspect of his life.

A Christian by faith, Harry walked a path of kindness and compassion. His beliefs were the compass that guided him in his journey, and he lived by example, touching the lives of many with his gentle spirit and unwavering values.

Harry's zest for life was evident in his younger days when he shared his passion for motorcycles with his sons, Brian and Terry. He supported them wholeheartedly as they raced motocross and hare scrambles, always there with a loving smile and a helping hand. As time moved on, Harry found solace in the tranquility of fishing and took immense pride in the beauty of his home landscaping, which he maintained with meticulous care.

The words loving, thoughtful, and handy are but a glimpse into the heart of a man who embodied them each day. Harry's love was a sheltering tree under which his family flourished. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Joanne, whose memory he cherished until his last breath. His loving spirit lives on through his beloved wife, Una Douthett; his sons, Brian Douthett and his wife Cindy, Terry Douthett and his wife Paula; step-son, James Williams and Tina, his seven grandchildren, Jesse, Cole, Clinton, Rylan, Trevor, Payton, Ashley, and two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Emory, who will continue to walk in the light of his love. Harry's journey through life was a reflection of the beauty and resilience of the human spirit, and he will be deeply missed by all who were graced by his presence.

A private memorial service will be held at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, FL with a Celebration of Life to be held in the near future, with information forthcoming.
