Carolyn "Sue" Eck, 88, a longtime resident of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family at 9:00 pm on Thursday, December 5, 2024. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, October 25, 1936, to Charles and Della (Caudill) Surber. On September 2, 1954, she married Jackie Lee Eck who preceded her January 22, 2020.
Sue graduated from Mississinewa High School and worked as a Personnel Manager for 30 yr years with General Motors. She was a member of the Women's Group of Retirees from GM. She loved fishing, crossword puzzles, shopping, and cooking. She loved to travel to Minnesota each year with family. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren dearly.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and thanks to Heart-to-Heart Hospice for their care of their mother.
Survivors include her children, Brian Eck of Marion, Julie (Scott) Weldon of Peoria, AZ, Todd (Candace) Eck of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Drew (Olivia) Eck, Kaley Keith, Taylor Eck, Nicholas (Randi) Eck, Cassidy (Levi Morrison) Eck; great-grandchildren, Kamille Eck, Thea Johnson, Jackson Eck, Journey Eck, Charli Eck, Reed Eck, and Mila Grubb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. and Della Surber; and husband, Jackie Lee Eck.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Sue's life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
