Well done, my good and faithful servant. A friend to all, David E. Hodge, 77, of Marion, made his final journey to his heavenly home on August 24, 2024, at Marion Health, after a short illness.
David was born on October 26, 1946, to Robert J. and Dorthea E. (Phillippe) Hodge. On April 22, 1971, he married Gloria McMahon, and together they raised three children: Beth Allen, Deenie Looper, and Bob Grim. David graduated from Apostolic Bible Institute (ABI) in 1970. In 1973, he and Gloria assisted in planting a church in Marshall Town, Iowa. They later returned to Marion where he lived the remainder of his life.
David, a retired delivery driver, was a hard worker and a friend to everyone. He was a wonderful singer and often shared his gift with the church. He was a faithful member of the First Pentecostal Church for 58 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his beloved wife, Gloria (McMahon) Hodge; daughter, Beth (Ken) Allen; brother, Michael D. Hodge; and stepmother, Betty (Hall) Hodge, who was instrumental in leading the family to the Lord.
David is survived by his sister, Sharon Hancock, Livingston, Texas; son-in-law, Kenneth Allen, Morley, Missouri; nieces, Dorthea R. Hodge, Marion, Natalie Clark, Humble, Texas, and Melissa Blair, Freeport, Texas; nephews, Joseph Blair, Freeport, Texas, and Robert Blair, Livingston, Texas; great-nephew, Brandon L. West, and friend, Dewy.
A memorial service for David will be held at the First Pentecostal Church, 1116 South Pennsylvania Street, Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Stroup officiating. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. for visitation. Donations towards interment may be made at the First Pentecostal Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
