Doris Scott Obituary

Doris M. Scott, 82, passed away on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022. She was born on Oct. 20, 1939 to the late Glen and Hilda (Hasty) Griffin. Doris was a graduate of Mississinewa High School in 1957. Doris went on and married the love of her life, Paul Scott, on Dec.. 24, 1957, and he survives. Together they built a life with four children, Tony, Bobbie, Diane, and Beth.

Doris worked at Payne's Grocery before working at Lone Oak Gardens. She started at Lone Oak Gardens in 1957, then she went on to be the owner in 1973. Doris was involved in many things in the community, she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Phi Beta Psi, Red Hats, and Pumpin' Iron Granny's. In her free time she enjoyed sewing and knitting. Doris collected dolls and dishes. She loved to play Euchre and Bridge with her friends. Doris and Paul also loved to eat at Lambert's Restaurant together. Doris was a member of Grant United Methodist Church as well.

Doris is survived by her husband, Paul Scott; children,Tony (Kelli) Scott of Fairmount, Bobbie (Joe) Solms of Fairmount, Diane (Doug) Jump of Fairmount, and Beth (Ted) Williams of Gas City; dog, Molly; nine grandchildren, Corey (Mick) Richards of Fairmount, Kyle (April) Scott of Fairmount, Katie (Kurt) Thomas of Indianapolis, Aaron (Shelley) Solms of Fairmount, Jeff (Karie) Solms of Elwood, Clint (Kayla) Jump of Fairmount, Shelby (Trace) Fritz of Muncie, Gracie (Max Lima) Neubauer of Muncie, and Kurtis Finley of Gas City; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; siblings Joan Riggs of Hartford City, Buck (Carolyn) Griffin of Kokomo, Marylou (Dwight) James of Markle, and Phyllis Persinger of Warren; special niece Beth Lynn Ricks.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, and sister Jean Mullenix.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, IN 46928. A visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 from 2:00-8:00P.M.. On Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 at the Fairmount Chapel a Service will be held at 10:00A.M. with Pastor Krause officiating. A burial will immediately following the service at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.

Memorial Contribution in memory of Doris can be made out to Grant United Methodist Church, 613 S. Walnut Street, Fairmount, IN 46928, in the care of Cindy Dunlap.

I knew Doris through work, but we all considered her a friend as well. The twinkle in her eye and kind words to all brought sunshine to the Physical Therapy gym. I know she's experiencing God's true Sonshine now.
