Gary W. Lacy, 71, Greentown, passed away at 5:55 pm, Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at Century Villa Health Care in Greentown. He was born Dec. 17, 1951, in Kokomo, the son of the late Earl Eugene & Bessie F. (Wyrick) Lacy. On December 29, 1978, in Alexandria, IN, he married Lora L. Brown who survives.
Gary was a 1970 graduate of Sharpsville Prairie High School and a 1976 graduate of Ball State University. Gary had owned and operated Holly's Packages Store in Greentown for the past 43 years. He previously taught for Maconaquah High School from 1976-1977 and worked for Gerber Sanitary Pottery and Eriks Chevrolet.
Gary was an active member and served as an usher for many years at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. He was also a member of Sons of the American Legion post 317 and the Greentown Planning Commission. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, Sunday drives, going to state parks and spending time with his granddaughters.
Along with his wife Lora, Gary is also survived by his sons, Richard A. Lacy and Matthew A. Lacy; granddaughters, Myla Lacy and Cameron Lacy; sister, Beth A. Swing; nieces and nephews, Scott (Bridget) Swing, Brad (Sue) Swing, Steve (Angie) Loser, Sarah (Tyler) Wehrley, Carrie (Brian) McCorkle and Shawn (Tara) Brown, along with many cousins; in-laws, Kathie (Randy) Loser and Dan (Holly) Brown.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pauletta Jo Lacy; in-laws, Henry & Frances Brown; and brother-in-law, Jeff Swing.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 Southway Blvd East, Kokomo, with Pastor Carl Hingst officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3-7 pm Monday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main Street, Greentown.
