James W. Butcher, 77 years old, died Friday, July 21, 2023 at Community Heart & Vascular North, Indianapolis. Jim was born November 1, 1945 at home on 10th and Elm Street,Fairmount.
His parents were Gola and Alice (Williams) Butcher, and was the youngest of their 10 children.
Jim graduated from Fairmount High School in the class of 1963. After graduation he went to work at Delco-Remy, Anderson on August 30, 1964.
He was drafted into the US Army in November 1965. After serving two years he was discharged, returned to Fairmount, and back to Delco-Remy retiring in August 2002.
In March 1969, Jim married Marietta Croussore. They had one son, Andy (Kelly), Elwood, three grandchildren, Ashley Rubendall, Alexandria, Andrew (Cierra Jones), Jonesboro, Alison (Jake) Hendrick, Alexandria, great-grandchildren, Owen Jackson, Elwood, Denae' Taylor, Hali , Dexter and Buckley Hendrick, Alexandria, Liam and Emry Rubendall, Alexandria.
He is also survived by his sister, Katie Combs, Marion, and one remaining aunt-Betty Netzler of Frankfort, Indiana.
Jim's siblings that has passed before him were, Addie (Ed) Oswalt, Fred (Wilda) Butcher, Bernard (Betty) Butcher, Berta (Virgil) Elsworth, Phil (Joanne) Butcher, Don (Joyce) Butcher, Joe (Sandy) Butcher, and Rose Ann (Bill) Johnson.
Through out Jim's life his interest were carpentry, building homes with his brothers, Joe and Phil, camping, taking his grand kids on trips, and attending all their sports events.
He traveled to many states, beaches and National Parks with his brothers, their wives, and his sister over the years. He enjoyed gospel sings, attending his monthly retirees lunches in Anderson, and his garden.
Jim attended Fairmount Baptist Church since 2018. His wishes are to have no visitation or burial services.
