Kelly L. Combs, age 59 of Gas City passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Kelly was born on Nov. 12, 1961 in Brook, Indiana the daughter of Robert J. and Sharon M. (McFall) Leighty. She married Vince Combs on July 25, 1987, and he survives.
Kelly worked in customer service at the Marion Utilities Department for 20 years where she treated customers like family, solving their issues with care and patience.
Kelly enjoyed relaxing on the porch whether rain or shine, watching nature's movements and was never without a book in her hand. Kelly also enjoyed evenings around the fire pit. She found good in everyone and loved her dog, Lohki. Kelly battled her cancer as long as she could and participated in several studies to try and advance knowledge for future cancer treatments. She was very strong willed and in her final act of kindness, she gave the gift of life as a donor.
She is survived by her husband, Vince Combs of Gas City; her parents, Robert and Sharon Leighty of Marion; two daughters, Kyndra Combs of Marion and Jenna Combs of Hartford City; a sister, Kipp (Jeff) Hyatt of Kokomo; and a brother, Dr. Chad (Sandra) Leighty of Marion.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Grant County, 305 S. Norton Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46952; or to Marion-Grant County Humane Society, 505 S. Miller Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953.
