Almost 10 years ago, the sweetest man came in to get a portrait of Kacie, a memorial to his pit bull. Soon after he came back and got a memorial for his guinea pig named Ky. He was hooked. Kyle was his name and he was my friend. He continued over the years getting more memorials for animals that he had loved and lost. He has more portraits on him than I have done on a single person. He would tell me about working with animals and trips with his parents, and his family. His face would light up and you could just feel the love pour out of this selfless man. He told me that his parents told him to stop getting tattoos, when I asked if he was going to stop, he said no, and we started putting them on his thighs, that way he could still go on vacation! (he was in his 50s at the time). He asked me what my favorite drink was and I replied that I loved spring water. He would then bring me a case of water every month for years! He brought me gum or candy, or a card if there was a holiday or my birthday, he didn't forget and would be so tickled when I got him anything. He even brought souvenirs back from trips with his parents. He followed me when i changed shops and brought me joy from just stopping by to say hi, I just loved this sweet man, some of you were lucky if you ever got to meet him and his heart warming greetings! I tattooed him a few weeks ago for his birthday. He called twice a week after, to chit chat and say he was coming to see me to bring me dots (my favorite candy) on Halloween. Anticipating his visit I got him a Heath bar(his favorite). He never came in. My heart is absolutely crushed as this morning I found out that he is gone. Kyle was a kind soul and taught me about kindness. He will be missed. My condolences to his wonderful family that I never had the blessing of meeting.
