After a courageous battle with ALS, Lynn O. "Pete" Teems, age 76, of Gas City, passed away at 2:10 pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in his home. He was born on July 2, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, to Keith and Lela (Thurber) Teems. On February 1, 1973, he married Sharon "Sherry" Haynes, who survives.
Pete was a proud graduate of Douglas MacArthur High School and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. As a crew chief mechanic, he worked on KC-135 and other military aircraft, concluding his service at Grissom Air Force Base. Pete enjoyed spending time with his grandson, creating handmade Christmas ornaments, potholders, jewelry, and even repairing watches and clocks. He also loved metal detecting and rebuilding anything he could get his hands on. Pete and Sherry served as foster parents from 1988 to 2012. Together with Theresa, they were affectionately known as the "Three Musketeers" due to their close bond and shared commitment. Pete was also a devoted member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
