Maggie Nieman Obituary

Maggie Sophia Nieman, 9, of Summitville, gained her wings unexpectedly Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Community Hospital in Anderson. Maggie was born on April 27, 2012 in Anderson, Indiana, daughter of Joshua and Casey (Blanton) Nieman.

A third grader at Park Elementary, Maggie loved anything to do with nature and being outside. She loved camping and campfires, swimming, hiking, kayaking, riding bikes, and cooking. She was an artist that loved painting since she could hold a paint brush and any kind of crafts. A little tornado at heart, she loved to help people and have fun. Maggie will be missed by her African Spud Tortoise, Evee. She was a member of Girl Scout Troop #3993 and played Club Volleyball and soccer.

Maggie is survived by her parents, Josh and Casey; siblings, Myles, Marlie, Molly and Marijane; grandparents, Tom and Cynthia Blanton, Summitville, Cathy Lee, Fairmount, Sandra Chandler, Fairmount, and Janet and Owen Harvey, Converse; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Maggie was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Charles Chandler, and Uncle, Shane Blanton.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana.

Visitation will be at Fairmount Friends Church, 124 W. First Street, Fairmount, on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 2-7 PM. Funeral Service will be at the Friends Church on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11 AM with Pastor Brock Meyer officiating.

I didn´t know Maggie as much as a lot of other kids did but I do remember a lot about her and things we did. She was my first friend at summitville when I came from frankton. First grade she was so nice to me, it was nice to have a friend as amazing as her. As caring as her. One of my friends lived infront of her, his grandma was my baby sitter so I would always be there at his house, and a lot of the time we would play with Maggie too, she would sometimes come over or we would go over and swing a bit. Sometimes ride our bikes in circles around the church lot. everytime I came she would always be eating pickles, she offered me some but I never liked pickles. Pretty sure we would also pretend to fight or find scary people. Like search for them around her or his yard. We never found any but it was always fun to pretend. During third grade we were in different classes so our friendship fell apart a little bit, we didn't talk much but I tried to say hi when I saw her on the bus. Recently the 6th grade graduated and we got some wonderful poems casey made / gave us. I put it on my window which is facing the West so now when I look at it I see the poem in the sunset if I look at it at the right time. One night I wrote a small letter saying "night Maggie, I miss you" and put it above the poem, I started talking to it and told her about a lot of things. What happened after she passed all of it, when I was done about an hour of crying later I swear it moved. That led me to talking more, after that I said something like "hey Maggie if that was you, please give me a sign." and the heater in my room turned on. I miss her so much and I'm sure so many other people do, so I tried to give a memory or a few that u remember. Heart goes out to her family and friends. <33

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. I saw Maggie riding her bike just the other day, such a sweet smile. That is how I will remember her.
Please be strong for each other and cherish each day.
We are thinking of all of you, god bless you all.
