Patricia Smith Obituary

Patricia Ann Smith, 66, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2025, after a courageous 12-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Patti was born on November 23, 1958, to the late James and Wanda Jean (George) Kemmer of Marion, Indiana.

Patti was a lifetime resident of Grant County. She graduated from Oak Hill High School and Indiana School of Dentistry where she earned her bachelor's degree in dental hygiene. Patti worked in Marion for 30 years and retired from the office of Ronald Munson DDS. She was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Patti married Darrell Smith on November 20, 1982, and they shared 43 years of marriage. Patti's greatest joys were spending time at home with Darrell and their puppies and their many walks in the woods. Patti loved her country home and being outdoors. She enjoyed the farmland and the woods and kept busy planting trees and mowing grass. Some of her favorite times were riding bikes with Darrell and walking their three fur babies on the Sweetser Switch Trail.

Patti is survived by her husband Darrell Smith; sister Kathy (Jim) Lawson; nieces Angela (Erik) Dunham and Lori (Mitch) Cook; great nephews Wade (Mike) Javorsky and Conner Dunham and Fur Babies Alli, Snickers and Leo. Patti was preceded in death by her parents James and Wanda Kemmer and her sister Linda Howard.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Stillwater Hospice and Katie McKee and Millie McKee with Gentle Hearts Home Care for their dedicated and loving care during Patti's illness.

Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home, 1202 W Kem Road, Marion, Indiana was entrusted with Patti's final arrangements. A private graveside service was held at Maple Grove Cemetery with Chaplain Ryan of Stillwater Hospice.

Preferred memorials can be directed to the Marion-Grant County Humane Society, 505 S. Miller Ave., Marion, Indiana 46952. May Patti rest in eternal peace with her Lord and Savior. Patti's love and her spirit will continue to inspire us forever.

Patti was my best friend all through grade school. I have so many happy memories of playing at her home and riding her mini bike and her horse. Patti and I spent all of our time outdoors floating down the local creek on a raft or playing in the woods. Patti was truly a wonderful person. My heart is so sad to know she is no longer here on earth. Rest in peace Patti. Thank you for all the wonderful memories
