Reece Alan Mann, 53, of Chester Township, Wells County, Montpelier, Indiana, reached his heavenly home on Oct. 28, 2022, at 6:20 am after a 2-year battle with a rare bile duct cancer.
Reece was born on Jan. 24, 1969, Hartford City, Indiana, to Douglas D. Mann and Juanita K. (Sparks) Mann. He graduated from Blackford High School in 1987 and received his bachelor's degree from Franklin College in 1991. He was a three-sport athlete at Blackford High School. He played football and baseball at Franklin College. He is a member of Blackford High School and Franklin College Athletic Hall of Fame. Shortly after college, Reece married the love of his life, Stacey G. Dodds, on September 3, 1992, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Reece would continue to further his education to receive his master's degree in counseling from IUPUI and EDS from Ball State University. He worked at Simpson Industries while attending IUPUI for Master's in counseling. He began his career in counseling at Montpelier School and continued as Guidance Counselor for Delta Middle School until becoming Director of Student Services for Monroe Central School Corporation where he was appointed to the position of Superintendent. He spent the last years of his career as Superintendent of Delaware Community School Corporation, where he was named Superintendent of the year in 2019. Reece was Superintendent at Monroe Central School Corporation and then for Delaware Community Schools. Reece's passion for education over the years touched many students in the east central Indiana area. His love for his career and a God given heart for serving others allowed Reece to be an exceptional example of servant leadership.
Reece loved to fish and kayak in Minnesota. He loved to golf, sit by the campfire, bird watch, and smoke a cigar every once in a while. Reece loved being a Husband, Father, Poppa, Daddy (Uncle) Reece, Best Friend, and son. He loved Stacey's lasagna, going on ice cream dates with Zoie and having a popsicle party with Ozzie and Odie.
He attended Southern Wells Community Church and was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Millard Brown Post #156 in Montpelier.
Reece will be deeply missed by his parents, Douglas & Juanita Mann of Leesburg, FL, his wife of 30 years, Stacey G. Mann of Montpelier, IN, son, Ozzie D. (Amy) Mann of Jasper, Indiana, daughter, Zoie K. (Colton) Twibell of Montpelier, IN, grandsons, Odie J. Mann and Lewie O. Mann, brother, Rick D. (Susan) Mann, nephew, Barton (Amanda) Mann, their sons Cooper & Baker, niece, Brooklyn Mann, nephew, Braxton (Taylor) their son Rhodes, nephew, Blake (Ella) Mann all of Jasper, IN, (better known to all of his nieces and nephews as Daddy Reece) and in-laws, Jim & Donna Davis, of Montpelier, IN.
Public visiting time will be held from 1-3 PM on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, on the Delta High School football field, 3400 E. SR 28, Muncie, IN 47303. Special visiting time is set aside for the Del-Com family, current students, and teachers from 3-4 PM following the school day. A service to celebrate Reece's life will begin at 4pm with his brother Rick Mann officiating. It was Reece's request to have his services in one day to reduce the stress on his family, please be mindful of the line as you visit to accommodate everyone wanting to pay their respects. When entering the Delta parking lot, please see designated officials for parking instructions. Guests are asked to sit in the bleachers for the service. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Indiana.

We ask you all to hang onto the fond memories you have made with Reece and forever cherish those times. God certainly knew what he was doing when he created Reece, perfectly orchestrating him into the lives of many. Thank you, Jesus, for giving us hope for an everlasting life, knowing because of you we will be together again.
