Robert Elmer Jensen, 89, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, at University Nursing Center in Upland. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday, April 26, 1933, to Elmer and Ruth (Thompson) Jensen. On September 4, 1954, he married Mary Anne Underwood.
Robert started high school in Brooklyn, NY and then moved to Cresskill, where he graduated from Tenafly High School in New Jersey and then proudly served in the United States Army. He was very involved in church activities when in New Jersey where he was an elder, deacon, trustee and sang in the choir. When his boys were young, he coached them in sports. He loved entertaining and traveling. After his military service, Robert worked for 25 years at Otis Elevator which included installing escalators in the original World Trade Center in New York City. He then finished his career at The MacKenzie Group as an Operations Manager in NYC. He also enjoyed home remodeling and outdoor projects. Most of all he loved his family.
Survivors include his sons, Bob Jensen of FL, Tim (Sarah) Jensen of NJ, and Tom (Kelly) Jensen of IN; daughter-in-law, Maura Jensen of VA; grandchildren, Jamie, Annalee, Jackie, James, Gil (Laura), Katherine, Erika (Kendall), and Darrin (Sarah); and great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Emily, Olson, Gus, and Harris.
He was preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Ruth Jensen; wife, Mary Anne Jensen; son, CW5 Ken Jensen; daughter-in-law, Lori Jensen; and sister, Andrea Wathne.
The family will receive visitors from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Robert's life will begin at 11:30 am with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
