Send FlowersRonald C. Griffith, 95, Marion, entered the gates of heaven at 8:20 am on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Tuesday, December 17, 1929, to Garnel and Julia (Welsh) Griffith. Ronald met and then married the love of his life, Beatrice Marie Solms on December 31, 1949.
Ron worked numerous jobs before going to work for Indiana Michigan Electric Co., retiring after 40 years of service. After retirement, he and Bea wintered in Florida, working 10 years at Epcot in Walt Disney World. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed camping, gardening, swimming, and spending his days working in his "woods". His children and grandchildren brought him the greatest joy of all.
In December 2024, they celebrated 75 years of marriage with their family.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; daughters, Diana May, Linda (Glen) Wheat, Susan Logan, Paula (Mike) Smithson; sons, Ronald (Pam) Griffith, Michael (Trina) Griffith; grandchildren, Bryan (Tammy) Griffith, Harmony (Steve) Younce, Brandon (Tara) Logan, Chad (Alexandria) Logan, Matt (Andrea) Kory, Michael (Bonnie) Kory, Kyle (Lezley) Griffith, Skyler (Matty) Griffith, Zachary (Jami) Griffith, and Ethan (Tiffany) Griffith . Additional survivors include great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Ron was preceded in death by his parent; siblings, Howard, Doris, Marybelle, and Ruby; grandson, Hoyt Olsen; as well as infant daughter, Denise.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Colonial Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Holy Family Catholic Church 325 E. North A St., Gas City, IN. Father Kevin Hurley will be officiating with burial following at Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or St. Martin's Community Center 901 S. Branson St., Marion, IN 46953.
