At approximately 12:30 am on Sept. 18, 2022, at IU Methodist, Ronald "Ron" A. Hamilton, 78, left his temporary home on earth and entered into his final resting place.
Ron was born on July 12, 1944, and lived his youth in Fairmount, Indiana. He was the
first son of Howard and Colleen (Armstrong) Hamilton who preceded him in death. His siblings are James Hamilton and Gary Hamilton who still live in the area. Ron grew up as a normal mid-west boy enjoying life in a small town. He enjoyed sports and he and his brother Jim mowed many yards in the area.
Ron graduated from Fairmount High School in 1962. He soon was hired by Delco Remy in Anderson and spent 36 years in production and retired at age 54 in 1999. His love was golf and he spent many summers at Marion Elks and a few months of each year at The Villages, in Florida. He spent several years in the National Guard and was a member of Fairmount American Legion Post 313 and a member of Marion Elks where he volunteered and mowed.
Ron married his wife, Carol (Plummer) Hamilton, in 1968. He adopted her son Andrew, and they had Toby in 1969, and then Deniece "Dede" in 1975. Ron and Carol spent 54 years together. He was a quiet, gentle person who enjoyed the family and being a husband and father.
Ron had Polio when he was 12 years old and spent several months in an iron lung. In 1998 he had open heart surgery followed up in later years with stents. In March 2021, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was in a heavy fight with that disease when he died of a brain bleed. Ron truly was a fighter and survivor. He never let his illnesses stop him from what he wanted to accomplish.
Left to share their memories of this special man are his wife, Carol; sons, Andrew (Noelle) Hamilton; and Toby (Rebecca) Hamilton; along with daughter, Deniece (Anthony) Aguilar; there are eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; along with four nieces and their families; and one nephew.
