Ronald "Ron" E. Johnson, 76, of Marion, passed away at 8:28 am on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Marion Health. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, October 1, 1948, to John and Beulah (Albright) Johnson.
Ron graduated from Marion High School in 1968 and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of Seaman Apprentice and was honorably discharged. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the American Legion. Ron loved music and was a part-time DJ. He provided music for many weddings and events over the years. Ron was very social and never met a stranger. He also loved animals and had owned several dogs over the years. He enjoyed watching movies. In addition to being a carpenter, Ron was also a skilled woodworker like his late father had been.
Survivors include brother, J. David (Karen) Johnson of Fort Wayne; step-daughters, Diane Brubaker, Amy Rowe, Julia (Jason) Kendall, and Jennifer (Tony) Khatibi; step-sons, Doug Brubaker and John (Teresa) Jumper; his companion, Denise Caito; sister-in-law, Judy Johnson of Indianapolis; as well as many several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Beulah L. Johnson; previous spouses, Cynthia Brubaker and Conni Jumper; sister, Karen Eckman; brother, Robert "Bruce" Johnson; and his beloved dogs, Fluffy, Akira, Sophie, and Roxy.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN 46952.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a memorial service with military honors to celebrate Ron's life will begin at 3:00 pm. Inurnment will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Marion-Grant County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952.

Sorry to hear ron has pass. As school kids used to play basketball at roars on Sherman st. Last time I talked to him 8 years ago after my wife passed. Last I heard he'd was living in Greentown. Rest I n piece my friend
