Vada Edwards-Bennett Obituary
Vada S. Edwards-Bennett, 81, Marion, passed away at 8:05 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. She was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky, on Sunday, February 22, 1942, to Cecil and Avanell (Cartee) Abbott. On October 19, 1963, she married Gerald Edwards, and he preceded her in death.
Vada graduated from Marion High School and was a sales associate for 36 years with JC Penney. She was a member of KEC Sorority International. Vada was an amazing people person who never met a stranger. She loved her family and was the happiest when all of her family was with her.
Survivors include her sons, Scott (Paulette) Edwards of Huntington, Michael (Sharon) Edwards of Fairmount, Cecil (Teri) Edwards of Las Vegas, NV, Jay Edwards of Marion, and Travis (Ginger) Edwards of Gas City; brothers, Tom Abbott of Muncie and Curtis Abbott of Johnson City, TN; sister, Diane (Gary) Johnson of Johnson City, TN; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Douglas G. Abbott; and sisters, Barbara Cline and Opal White.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Vada's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dan Van Cise officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Cancer Services of Grant County, Tower Suites, 305 S. Norton Ave., Marion, IN 46952.

Vada was a friend of our family for many years, actually since she met Gerry. She always had a smile, a funny story, a laugh to share. I'm sending condolences, love & hugs to all the family on behalf my sister, Carole Clos, and myself. Vada was a true pleasure to know.

I worked with Vada at JC Penney in the late 70's. She was always a ray of sunshine and was just a wonderful lady. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time.

To the family of Vada, You are in my thoughts and prayers. I knew Vada at Northgate Village Apartments. She was on the Board of Directors. She could light up a room with her smile and personality. A joy to be around. She never met a stranger. I will miss her friendship. She was a beautiful lady inside and outside. An angel here on Earth and now an angel in Heaven. May God send His Angels to surround the family during this most difficult time. God Bless.
