Alan Rooks Obituary

Alan Barnett Rooks, 52, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 in Sevierville, Tn. Born in Ocala, Florida on February 12, 1964. He was the son of Ralph Rooks and Betty Rooks Brown.
Alan was a lifelong resident of Citrus County, dividing his time between Crystal River and the mountains of Sevierville, TN over the last two years. An avid hunter and fisherman, Alan loved nature and was happiest outdoors. He was a talented writer and wrote deep and meaningful poetry. Alan had a keen sense of humor and loved a good laugh, even at his own expense. His smile lit the room. He was soft hearted, sentimental and loving, unashamed of shedding a tear. Alan faced many personal challenges over the years, but those challenges do not overshadow the beauty of his spirit and the memories his family and friends have of him. Alan was loved and is now at peace.
Alan was pre-deceased by his father, Ralph Rooks, brothers Mike "Bimbo" Rooks and Tim Rooks. He is survived by his son, Todd Barnett Rooks and step-daughter Tara King. Also surviving are his mother, Betty Rooks Brown, his sisters Terry Rooks and Deena Rooks Collins and his brother Todd Rooks. In addition, he is survived by Ryan Veal. Alan is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dunnellon, Fla. The date of his service will be announced in the future. Condolences may be sent to Deena Rooks Collins in care of Strickland Funeral Home in Crystal River.

Rest in peace my little brother. I have so many wonderful memories of times together. One I hold dear is carrying heavy crosses together during a Christmas Parade a couple of years ago. Sometimes you helped me carry mine when it was too heavy, sometimes I helped you carry yours. And so it was in life. I thank God for the complete knowing that you are with Him, free, happy and peaceful. I love you Alan Rooks, you are missed but never forgotten.
