Mrs. Barbara D. Viens, age 86, of Lecanto, Florida, died July, 17, 2014, surrounded by her family. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.HooperFuneralHome.com. Cremation will be under the direction of Hooper Crematory, Inverness, Florida.
Mrs. Viens was born November 26, 1927 in Meriden, CT, daughter of Henry and Antonia (Konapatzki) Dreier. She died July 17, 2014 in Inverness, FL. She worked as a service representative for Southern New England Telephone Company retiring in 1987 and moving to Lecanto from Meriden, CT in 1989. Mrs. Viens was a member of the Moose Club of Inverness and the Telephone Company Pioneers and was a volunteer with Citrus Memorial Hospital for 7 years and the Citrus County Sheriff's Department for 3 years. Mrs. Viens more recently resigned as treasurer of the Kensington Estates Property Owners Association (KEPOA). Mrs. Viens was preceded in death by her parents and a son, David O'Neil. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Roy Viens of Lecanto, FL, 2 sons, Dennis (and wife Vicki) O'Neil of Meriden, CT and Kevin (and wife Sandra) Veins of Meriden, CT, 2 daughters, Suzanne (and husband Mark) Hanson of Monroe, OH and Michelle and (husband James) Powers of Debary, FL, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Barbara D. Viens, will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes.
