Bruce Brennan Obituary

He did not trip and fall! As usual, it was done in his own way.
Bruce J. Brennan, 85, began a final journey to his restful peace as a result of a fall and subsequent complications. Seeing him off on his journey was his dearest Carolyn Pierce.
A heads-up to St. Peter: Prepare a porch overlooking the water, and have a mini- fridge stocked with Heineken.
Bruce was not a golfer and probably would have starved if dinner had depended on his fishing skills. Instead, he was content to enjoy his retirement in Homosassa, FL, socializing with friends and the like-minded at the local watering holes. In his later years, he was renowned for dispensing his wit and opinions to those lucky enough to be invited to sit on his porch. Quite the honor!
Born in 1933 in Glens Falls, NY, Bruce attended St. Mary's Academy before transferring to Glens Falls High School for the greater glory on the gridiron. Exerting his independence, Bruce left his hometown to complete his higher education at St. Michael's College in Colchester, VT. Deferring the draft, he enrolled in ROTC and joined the Air Force upon graduation in 1955. An accomplished career as a cold warrior followed with squadron assignments across the country and Europe. Bruce rose through the ranks to Lieutenant Colonel. During this time, Bruce met, fell in love and married Marilyn Forsander. Bruce's sense of duty, honor and sacrifice included too many dreaded rotations to Southeast Asia. Upon leaving the Air Force, Bruce and Marilyn settled in Orlando. Another 20-year career as a mail carrier followed. Sadly, Marilyn Brennan passed away in 1982. Bruce later met and courted Miss Carolyn, whom he cherished thru the final call for departure and beyond the moment. They have been Homosassa jewels since 1996.
Waiting patiently at the pearly gates with Marilyn, are his parents, Walter J. Brennan, II and Jessica Powers Brennan; brother, Geoffrey Brennan; niece, Mary Patricia Brennan; and sister-in-law, Joyce Brennan. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Terrence P. Brennan, and Bruce's brothers, Walter J. Brennan III and Robert Douglas Brennan (Sandy). Other family members who will miss and undoubtedly tell tales about Bruce include Susan (Tim) Saltis, Stephanie (Kimmo) Peltonen, Tim (Colette) Brennan, Laurie (Craig) Halbohn, Kristie (Fernando) Robleno, and all their children ... God bless them!
Bruce's final flight will be a service with Full Military Honors at 1:00 PM on Friday, Sept. 28th, at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Cars are to line up precisely at 12:30 PM.
Donations in Bruce's honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
