Carol Armon Obituary

Dr. Carol Armon of Palm Bay, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21st, 2020. She was 70.
Born in Syracuse, New York, on December 8, 1949, Dr. Armon was determined from a young age to break gender barriers and become a physician. She earned a Bachelors Degree from Syracuse University, conducted research at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and like her father, graduated as a Medical Doctor from the New York University School of Medicine in 1974. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Miami in 1978, achieving the distinction of being named Chief Resident of the program. She then enjoyed a nearly-40 year career in OBGYN in Florida, Alabama and in Israel, dedicating her life's work to providing thousands of women with compassionate, respectful, and stellar health care. She was an entrepreneur, owning and maintaining solo medical practices in three communities and she was the sole owner and operator of the first commercial sperm bank in Florida, opened in 1984.
She dedicated time to her community, educating the public on womens' health issues, and volunteered with schools in all of the communities in which she lived to promote STEM learning, particularly among female students. She was a philanthropist, giving generously to many local and international organizations. She was also a devoted reader, possessing a library containing hundreds of books, a talented artist, calligrapher, and created many beautiful works of needlepoint.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Avi, her daughter, Shylie (Jesse) Bannon of Jacksonville, Florida, her grandson, Ari, her brothers, Dr. Robert (Pam) Schlamowitz of Vero Beach, Florida, and Dr. Kevan (Jane) Schlamowitz of Tucson, Arizona, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Per her wishes, she was brought to her adopted homeland to be laid to rest in Ra'anana, Israel. Memorial donations may be made to the Hadassah Medical Organization at https://www.hadassah.org/ways-to-give/.

I am just shocked to find out about her passing. I have thought about about her often, she delivered 2 of my 3 children. My oldest one will be 38 in a couple of days, you never forget her kindness & craziness. I remember with my 2nd daughter her trying not to show panic, telling me that my baby was in distress and I needed an emergency csection. But she had a way of making you feel at ease, even in a situation like that. I never had a Dr. like her since! And I never will. RIP. Dr. Carol.

My dear friend Dr. Carol Schlamowitz was a huge part of my life here in South Florida. She was my OBGYN, when my first child was conceived. We became friends and I loved her dearly. How sad to lose such a beautiful soul. I will miss you all the days of my life. Avi, my heart is heavy with yours. I send you love, hugs and support. God has taken another angel from earth to be with him in heaven. RIP. Carol.

I worked with Carol in the early 90s & she delivered my son! I enjoyed our daily gossip sessions, laughing about everything, and her ability to do surgery in heels & long nails! She was a unique & I greatly admired her for it. Ive often thought about her & am saddened to hear of her passing.

If you had an emergency C-Section in OB she is the doctor you wanted for that patient. She was in that OR in a flash and had that baby out within 2 minutes of going under anesthesia. She wasnt shy by any means and she would sit in a patients room and knit. She had her own style that some appreciated and some didnt, but it was she was definitely memorable!

I met Carol and Avi in 1991 or 92 when I was working at Citrus 95. She had just opened her practice and we were working on a radio marketing campaign. A few years later, Carol became my OBGYN when I was pregnant with my son who is almost 24 now. She was an amazing doctor and you always knew where you stood with her. She had a wonderful sense of humor, great smile, and fun to be around. I was sad when they decided to move. Much love to Avi and family. Carol will be truly missed.

I met Carol and Avi while working at Citrus 95. Her practice had recently open and we were developing radio marketing campaign. This continued for a few years, then she became my OBGYN when I was pregnant with my son who is now almost 24. Carol was an amazing doctor and a fierce caring friend. You always knew where you stood with her which is a wonderful character trait. She also had a great sense of humor. I was sad when she and her family decided to leave Citrus County. She will be forever missed. Much love to Avi and family.
