Caroline J. Waterhouse (Meadus), 97, of Homosassa, passed away and received her butterfly wings on Aug. 16, 2025.
A native of Detroit, MI, she was born to Patrick and Hilda (Mueller) Meadus, one of six children. Caroline lived most of her life in Michigan before moving to Homosassa in the late 1980s with her late husband, Walter.
Caroline was a woman of faith and very active in her church. She loved to sing and was a member of the church choir. An avid bowler, she bowled until the age of 94. She was a master at crocheting and loved blessing her family and friends with handmade gifts. Caroline enjoyed playing games on her computer and live streaming with her family.
A faithful and devoted volunteer, Caroline gave many years of service to Friends of Citrus and The Nature Coast Thrift Shop in Homosassa. She was very independent, and people were amazed at her stamina for her age. She was always seen with a smile on her face. She loved butterflies and always wore them – whether in her hair, her jewelry, or on a piece of clothing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Waterhouse; daughter, Nancy Studnickas; son, Philip Marx; granddaughter, Ta'Betha Studnickas; and her five sisters: Eva Lamoureux, Ruth Kampenski, Patricia Michalik, Baby Viola Meadus, and Eileen Riske.
Caroline is survived by her son, Daniel (Nancy) Marx; grandchildren, Raymond (Angie) Roney, James Marx, William (Allie) Marx, and Jennapher Johnson; great-grandchildren, Philip and Anna Marie Studnickas, Kayleigh and Jude Marx, and Joshua and Kaiden Roney; many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews; as well as special friend and caregiver, Tina Sauers.
Caroline was also a devoted pet mom to Corky and Buddy, who both greeted her in Heaven.
A Celebration of Life for Caroline will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Homosassa, 8831 West Bradshaw St., Homosassa, FL 34448, with Pastor Ernie Post officiating.

Dear Family,
I was blessed to call Caroline, sister in Christ, fellow choir member with St. Timothy Lutheran, and friend. We sang, laughed, cried, & hugged together through these many years. She was so talented and enjoyed getting together. Enjoy the Heavenly Choir my friend and hug Mom Mary Jane Conn for me.
Prayers for all of you,
Mary Schlumberger
