Christopher Lake Obituary

Christopher Joseph Lake, 89, Inverness, died May 9, 2010. Mr. Lake was born in New York City on Jan 20, 1921, to the late Christopher M. and Mary Jane Lake and grew up in Hempstead, Long Island. He lived in Wisconsin with his family, where he retired as an insulation cutter from Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Co. in West Allis, WI, with 39 years of service. Following retirement, he moved to Florida in 1978. Mr. Lake served our country for 10 years in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Metalsmith First Class and Aviation Chief Metalsmith. An active member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, he was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 6391 and had been a member of the K of C since 1947. While employed with Allis-Chalmers, he served as a Bargaining Committeeman for the AFL-CIO Local 248.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marie Lake; two daughters, Judith Stamp and her husband Ronald of West Sand Lake, NY; Patricia Lake of Albuquerque, NM; his grandson, Joseph Stamp; Niece and Nephew, Barbara Matthews and husband Edward, and Donald Buckley.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, May 12, at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Fr. James Johnson, celebrant. Burial will follow in Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home this evening (Tuesday) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to either Hernando Pasco Hospice or Hospice of Citrus County.

My memories of Uncle Chris will forever by a comfort to me. He always had a smile on his face and a hug for you whenever you saw him. He will be remembered as a kind and loving husband and father. He will be missed by all of us in Virginia. May the love he shared with you all keep his memory alive. I am so sorry I can't be with you but know that you are in my thoughts and prayers .
