Dennis Treadway Obituary

Dennis G. Treadway, 66, of Crystal River, FL passed away January 5, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Dennis was born January 4, 1953 in Wyandotte, MI to the late Everette and Louise Treadway. He was raised in Marshall, NC and always considered that home. Dennis had an extensive career in both Naval and commercial nuclear power. During his ten years in the Navy, he served on board the USS South Carolina and the USS Eisenhower. He concluded his Navy service as an instructor at the Ballston Spa Training Facility in upstate New York.
After leaving the Navy, Dennis transitioned to commercial nuclear power as a Licensed Operator at the Three Mile Island nuclear plant. After several years at TMI, Dennis found his true calling as a Nuclear Operations Instructor. He taught operators at several nuclear facilities but made his home in Citrus County while working extensively as a Senior Operations Instructor at the Crystal River Unit 3 facility. As an instructor Dennis always focused on the needs of his students, doing whatever it took to ensure their success. This earned him the respect of his students and the admiration of his peers. Dennis worked tirelessly in his volunteer endeavors in Citrus County. He was a legendary Coach and an overwhelmingly generous man. Serving 25 plus years with the Crystal River Sharks and Pop Warner football and cheerleading organization as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the Timucua Conference, Dennis was known as being one of the most unselfish and dedicated individuals mentoring and coaching youth sports. His passion on the field will be remembered with his most famous quotes, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work" and "They didn't beat us, we just ran out of time". Dennis was a true leader, teacher, friend and husband.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his step-father Max Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Toni Treadway; step-daughter Annette Damron and husband Chad Damron, Paula Lee and husband Brian Lee; brother Jeff Treadway and wife Leslie; three grandchildren, Brandon Lee, Megan Lee and Colby Damron; nieces Logan Life and Kelsie Treadway.
Family will receive friends from 11AM-1PM, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Brown Funeral Home & Crematory in Lecanto, FL with a memorial service beginning at 1PM along with full military honors.

I served with Dennis on the commissioning crew for the USS Eisenhower for three years. We played softball together for a couple of seasons and I always enjoyed his passion for the competition while showing great sportsmanship. I also remember hitting the beach with Dennis at GTMO, Cuba and the US Virgin Islands. Always fun and a great companion who had your back. Rest in peace mate.

God called. He's starting a Heaven Pop Warner Team. He needs a coach and you've been called up. God speed. Just call your team the Sharks, and not the Gators and you'll do fine. You will be missed. Appreciate you and Toni. We miss you because we are selfish. However, you are in God's glorious hands and we should celebrate. Welcome home.

Dennis you were a true example of what a youth football coach, leader, and mentor should be and you showed it daily by your actions how people should not only play the game but how they should live their life. You have touched thousands and have given tirelessly of your time and resources. We have lost a truly wonderful man and Heaven has gained a wonderful Angel. Im sure you are right now teaching the Angles team your favorite play of the Brooksville Special. May God bless and be with your family.
