Doris Anne Materazzo, of Hernando, passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side on Thursday, April 25, 2024. She was 81. Doris was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to John "Dempsey" and Anne Martin Sekerah. She worked as a bus driver for Somerset County Transit for many years. After retiring, Doris moved to Florida in 2019 from Somerville, NJ.
Doris dedicated herself to loving and supporting her children and grandchildren and could be found cheering for them during their various sporting events. Doris, sometimes to her family's embarrassment, was usually the loudest one in the stands. She also loved crocheting, crossword puzzling, and playing cards and board games with her family and friends. Doris was an avid sports fan and loved watching her Tampa Bay Rays and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Richard A. "Rick" Dymond (Gina) of Middlesex, NJ, daughter Denise Dymond Lyn (Brian Fiorella) of Hernando, and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Madison and Tyler.
A celebration of Doris' life will be held on May 10 at 3 p.m., at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to service time. Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home 3075 S. Florida Ave., Inverness. Thereafter, the family will continue the celebration with services under the care of Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Rd., Middlesex, NJ 08846.
The family would like to thank the amazing nurses and caregivers of Vitas Healthcare for the wonderful care and love provided to Doris. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Doris' name to Vitas Healthcare Hospice at P.O. Box 1330, Lecanto, FL 34460 (352-527-2020).
